TOPIC:"Fluorometry And The Measurement Of Cannabinoids". The importance of accurate cannabinoid testing is critical for many parties in the cannabis value chain. Consumers are the end user of this value chain and depend on governments, regulatory bodies laboratories and producers to harmonize their efforts to provide safe medical and recreational products to the market. Technology can be applied to many points in the cannabis value chain. FluroTech will explain how the cannabis industry will apply it’s spectroscopy based technology to the quantify cannabinoids in the cannabis value chain.
Dr. MacMillan brings with him an impressive background of experience in plant breeding, biotechnology and regulatory environments.
He graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a PhD in Agricultural Plant Biotechnology at the University of Lethbridge in 2014. His post-graduate career began with the position of Director of R&D / Quality Control at Aurora Cannabis. In this position he helped establish Aurora’s QA program to obtain their license to produce medical cannabis and ensure compliance with MMPR and GMP standards.
This involved helping provide written and oral responses to Health Canada’s questions and participating in regulatory inspections. He established Aurora’s analytic finished product testing program, which involved organizing third party as well as internal laboratory testing. He coordinated the set up of Canada’s first plant tissue culture (PTC) program for industrial cannabis production. He helped Aurora build their Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE) program to produce GMP compliant edible oils. He is extremely excited about applying his extensive background, technical knowledge and experience to the cannabis industry.
